Annarpurna Base Camp Trek – 12 days
‘Annapurna Base Camp’ is the classic hiking journey into Annapurna Sanctuary under the Mt. Annapurna (8091m). It is the world’s tenth highest peak’s base camp of Mt. Annapurna (8091m). This trek would be a good choice for the beginners who would like to get into the Himalaya without longer acclimatization. Along the way, you will come cross Gurung and Poon Magars villages with stunning views of Annapurna range. This place is a home to many species of bards and the white monkeys (Langurs).
Annapurna Base Camp – The Journey
The journey begins from Kathmandu to Pokhara by flight or tourist bus. Pokhara offers breathtaking views of Annapurna range including Mount Fishtail (commonly known as Macchapuchure).
The actual journey of ‘Annapurna Base Camp’ begins from Pokhara to Nayapool (45 km) by bus/car/van ride of approximately 1 hour and a trek to Gorepani. On the way up to Uleri, Banthati and Gorepani, you will see the beautiful Mt. Fishtail (6993m), Annapurna South (7219m) and Hiuchil (6444m).
Next morning is a trek to Poon Hill (3210m), which is the best viewpoint to see Mount Annapurna. This is also a famous point to watch the early morning sunrise. The point also offers panoramic views of Mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges (Mt. South Annapurna (7219m), Hiuchuli (6444m), Fishtail (6993m), Annapurna I/II/III/IV, Lamjung Himal, Gurja Himal, Mt. Dhaulagiri I/II/III/IV, Tukche peak, South Nilgiri and Dhamodar Himal range etc.)
Next is the adventurous, yet exciting up and down hill walk to Dheurali, Tatopani, Chhumrung and Sinuwa. A final trek from Modi Khola valley to MBC to ABC is a walk right into the heart of the Annapurna. Encounter extravagant 360 degree views including: Mt. Annapurna I (8091m) from ‘Annapurna Base Camp’ at 4200m.
After this amazing trek, you will head back to Chhumrung and a different route to Jinu (Hot spring), Landurng and Dhampus Gurung villages. From there you can take a bus/taxi/van to Pokhara and to Kathmandu by Tourist bus or flight.
