Gosainkunda Helambu Trek – 10 days
The ‘Gosainkunda Helambu Trek’ starts with a road trip from Kathmandu to Dhunche by bus or a private jeep. Then, we slowly start trek to Gosainkunda Lake and Helambu region. We will trek through Tamang villages and Rhododendrons forest of Langtang. You will get to learn more about the Buddhist culture in the Tamang community.
Enjoy the blooms of red, pink and white rhododendrons and the evergreen forest of pine, fir and oaks in spring. Langtang is also a home to various wild lives like Red Pandas (endangered species), Langurs (white monkey), Himalayan black bears, snow leopards, wild dogs, ghoral, serow, musk deer, Himalayan thar and more than 250 species of birds.
Gosainkunda is the famous Lake in the whole Langtang region situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters. Hindus consider this lake holy and is visited by the pilgrims during the festival of Janai Purnima in August every year. According to Hindu mythology, the lake is the abode of Lord Shiva. Gosainkunda Lake trek includes varied landscapes, turbulent streams, cascading waterfalls and the alpine grassland. Bhairabkunda, Saraswatikunda and Surajkunda are some other lakes that you will see on the way to Lauribena La Pass you can enjoy the enchanting views of Gahesh Himal, Manaslu, Langtang Lirung (7234 m), Langtang Ri (7205 m) and Gangchhempo peak. Lauribena La 4610m high pass connects Langtang and Helambu regions. You will see many monasteries and learn more about Buddhist culture in Helambu. After Helambu we trek to Tarkegyang and Sermathang villages than decent to Melamchipool. Our Gosainkunda Lake trek ends here, and then we head off to Kathmandu 3-4hrs.
