Gosainkunda Helambu Trek – 10 days

The ‘Gosainkunda Helambu Trek’ starts with a road trip from Kathmandu to Dhunche by bus or a private jeep. Then, we slowly start trek to Gosainkunda Lake and Helambu region. We will trek through Tamang villages and Rhododendrons forest of Langtang. You will get to learn more about the Buddhist culture in the Tamang community.

Enjoy the blooms of red, pink and white rhododendrons and the evergreen forest of pine, fir and oaks in spring. Langtang is also a home to various wild lives like Red Pandas (endangered species), Langurs (white monkey), Himalayan black bears, snow leopards, wild dogs, ghoral, serow, musk deer, Himalayan thar and more than 250 species of birds.

Gosainkunda is the famous Lake in the whole Langtang region situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters. Hindus consider this lake holy and is visited by the pilgrims during the festival of Janai Purnima in August every year. According to Hindu mythology, the lake is the abode of Lord Shiva. Gosainkunda Lake trek includes varied landscapes, turbulent streams, cascading waterfalls and the alpine grassland. Bhairabkunda, Saraswatikunda and Surajkunda are some other lakes that you will see  on the way to Lauribena La Pass you can enjoy the enchanting views of  Gahesh Himal, Manaslu, Langtang Lirung (7234 m), Langtang Ri (7205 m) and Gangchhempo peak. Lauribena La 4610m high pass connects Langtang and Helambu regions. You will see many monasteries and learn more about Buddhist culture in Helambu. After Helambu we trek to Tarkegyang and Sermathang villages than decent to Melamchipool. Our Gosainkunda Lake trek ends here, and then we head off to Kathmandu 3-4hrs.

Itinerary of Gosainkunda Halambu Trek:
Day 1: International Airport pick up in Kathmandu.
Day 2: Trek briefing, preparation and visit Bhaudhanath Stupa) in the afternoon.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Dhunche by public bus or jeep 5-6hrs.
Day 4: To Thulo Syabru village 2120m/6hrs (up and down hill walk with view of Ganesh Himal).
Day 5: Sing Gomba 3250m/5hrs (Mostly uphill walk with panoramic views of Mt. Manaslu and Ganesh Himal).
Day 6: To Lahurebinayak 3905m/3hrs (Mostly uphill walk with panoramic views of Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Kerung Himal and Langtang Lirung etc).
Day 7: To Gosainkunda Lake 4312m/2hrs (explore lakes in the afternoon).
Day 8: Laurebena La 4610m pass to Gopte 3430m/6hrs.
Day 9: Melamchi Goan 2650m/6hrs (view of Mt. Dorje Lakpa).
Day 10: To Tarke Ghyang 2560m/5hrs (visit monastery).
Day 11: To Shermathang 2600m/6hrs (visit monastery).
Day 12: Malamchi Bazzar/Pul 830m/4hrs walk and to Kathmandu by public bus 3-4hrs.
Note : Trek itinerary can be changed for interested side trips and extra days for acclimatization if needed.

Cost includes :
1) Airport pick up and departure.
2) Two nights accommodation (Standard double or twin bed room with breakfast) at 2* Hotel at Thamel (Tourist center)/Kathmandu. Note:- The accommodation in Kathmandu can arrange/book according to client choice Hotel type. The clients have to pay differences if needed.
3) Langtang National Park Trekking entry fess.
4) Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card (Trekking permit).
5) Kathmandu to Syafrubesi by public bus or jeep.
6) Teahouse meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with tea or coffee during the trekking days. Meals can be selected from Menu and will have enough while on trekking.
7) Accommodation during the trekking days.
8) Nepali Staffs: An experience trek guide and necessary porter.
9) Three times meals and daily salary for guide and porter.
11) Insurance of guide and porter.
12) Melachi Bazzar/Pul to Kathmandu by Public bus.
Cost does not include :
1) Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu.
2) Personal trekking equipment of clients.
3) Snack, Juice, Coca, Fanta, Sprite, Beer, Whisky, Boil and Mineral water during the trekking days.
4) Personal Insurance of clients such as medical, emergency evacuation (helicopter rescue USD6000-8000), flight and trek cancellation etc.
5) Expenses for personal nature: Hot showers, laundry, donations, museum entry fee, movie/film watching, postage, telephone calls and email/Internet etc.
6) Attach bath room during the trekking days. If the clients want attach bathroom where is possible, there have to pay differences between common and attach bathroom.
7) Tips for staffs.
8) Sightseeing in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan etc. (City tour guide and transportation can arrange on request of clients).

Trekking gears packing list for Mardi Himal Trek:
1) Hiking boot. Sandals. Three pairs socks.
2) Two pairs trousers, a fleece or down jacket, three T-shirts, two drip-dry T-shirts, long underwear, a fleece hat, glove, water/windproof jacket and trouser, sun glass, lip balm, Sun scream (50+), Sun hat, soap/shampoo and trekking towels etc.
3) A strong and warm sleeping bag (-10 degree centigrade).
4) Water purified tablets, 2L water bottle, hiking poles, medical kit and torch light with spare batteries etc.
5) A few interesting books and pack of cards.
6) Snow gaiters and micro-spikes for winter trip.
7) Plastic bag for waste and toilet paper.
8) A duffel bag or rucksack large enough (60 to 65L) size.
Note: If you do not have any idea for trekking medicine, we will be sent some information upon trip booking.

We have down jacket and sleeping bag renting felicities for our clients. It is cost USD1 per sleeping bag and down jacket per day.
