We absolutely loved our visit to Nepal. We visited in March to Early April 2016. We highly recommend High Camp Trekking. The route we chose was EBC (Everest Base Camp). Our guide was Sanjay Lama (Norsang's brother). For our family of 5 (with children 9, 13, and 15) we had 3 porters (Furi, Pasang, Jungbu) plus Sanjay our guide. Jungbu hiked with us and it worked out great to have an additional helper on all the hiking days. Sanjay and Norsang came to meet us the day before we flew to Lukla to talk about the trip and took us to get last minute items in Thamel. On the trek we stayed at good tea houses and always had good options for food at each location. We were a unique group in that we had children. We did not see many children on the trek, but we felt confident with our guide and the schedule they planned with days worked in to acclimate to the high altitude. We did experience some illness and some high altitude issue, but the flexibility of the schedule helped us and we were able to successfully make it to Everest Base Camp and back safely and within the time we had planned. We highly recommend you go with High Camp Trekking. I made inquiries with other companies and individuals and I feel very fortunate that we got great service and value for the money spent with High Camp Trekking.

Norsang Lama did another incredible job as our guide for my wife Melissa and me through the Upper Mustang area of Nepal. We are 59 and 60 years old. This is our second trip with Norsang (first time was Langtang). Norsang is a wonderful and very experienced guide. He knows the terrain, the trails and where to stay. He matches the pace of his guests and watches closely for any issues(there were none). We made a couple of changes to the route and he easily accomodated our requests. On top of all this, he is just a good guy. He is now not only our absolutely "go to" Nepali guide, he is our friend. We would never use anyone else. Never. End of story. Please contact me for more info or questions.

Richard, Alison and I did the Annapurna Sanctuary trek with High Camp Trekking in Sep/Oct 2015. We had an incredible time and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I had already received a few quotes from other companies when a friend of mine, Imogen, recommended Norsang to me. I contacted him about with our itinerary and he replied very quickly with a quote and some helpful suggestions for our plans. I originally asked for a 'guide only' quote to save on our budget, which Norsang provided. He also gave us a very reasonable quote for a package, including all our transport, food and accommodation once on the trek. I'm really glad he did, because that is what we did and it worked out brilliantly. The transport was hassle-free and comfortable (Sanjay, our guide, even escorted us from the hotel to our bus), Sanjay always chose the lodges with the best views, we were free to choose what we liked from the menus, and not having the stress of negotiating prices at the end of each day's trekking was a relief. Sanjay, Norsang's brother, was a great guide. A really nice guy who was able to tell us all about the villages we passed through. He somehow managed to anticipate all our needs before we had even thought of them! He ensured that we were really well looked after, happy and comfortable throughout the whole trek. After we had spent an extra couple of days in Pokhara, Sanjay even met us off the bus back in Kathmandu and escorted us to our hotel. Our two porters, Maila and Rajendra, also family members, were also really nice - and very strong! The trek itself was stunning. A beautiful contrast between the jungle paths and traditional Gurung villages and the towering snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna range. The highlight was reaching the Annapurna Base Camp, alongside a huge glacier and being surrounded by incredible peaks all around. A truly unforgettable experience.

Late February 2015, Annapurna Circuit If you are looking for a trustworthy, experienced and friendly guide who will put your interests first, then you need look no further than Norsang and his company. He is a very organised guide (and manager) who has a comprehensive knowledge of the area and can adapt quickly when things don’t go according to plan. I found Norsang online after scouring many forums trying to find an independent guide with great reviews. As I’m sure you’re aware, it’s often difficult to find outstanding service that is also affordable. Our decision to go with Norsang proved to be worth every cent. We wanted to visit Tilicho Lake as well as cross Thorung La Pass despite being on a tight schedule. While some other companies said that this wouldn’t be possible, Norsang was very understanding and explained to us that it would depend on the weather conditions during the trek. He provided a very clear itinerary that showed us exactly what was or wasn’t included and let us tweak it as much as we needed. When we arrived in Kathmandu, everything was pre-arranged and the trek went as planned. Unfortunately, half way to Thorung La pass, Norsang contacted the Tilicho base camp teahouse owner and informed us that not only was the teahouse closed, the path to Tilicho Lake was too icy to cross as a result of recent snowstorms, which meant our original itinerary would be cut down by 4 days. However, he quickly provided an alternative itinerary that fit into our time frame with no hassle. The next day started with heavy snowfalls that trapped everyone in Manang, where we were staying. While many other trekkers ended up staying for the night, Norsang led us to the next destination as soon as the snowfalls became light enough to safely trek in, in order to keep on schedule. This proved to be a crucial decision because as soon as we crossed Thorung La pass 2 days later, heavy snow-storms swept the area, making the crossing impossible. It was our first ever trek as well as our first time in Nepal and we learned a lot about Nepal’s culture, flora and fauna from Norsang. Our porters Siam and Maila were also great and we all had a great time playing a Nepalese card game they taught us. Despite all our theoretical knowledge gained from our prior research, little did we know just how challenging it would be to do the circuit in winter, and I can say for sure that we would not have made it without Norsang’s services. I highly recommend High Camp Trekking to anyone who is thinking about trekking in Nepal and we will definitely use their services again next time we go back.

We completed the Everest Base Camp Trek with High Camp Trekking in November 2014 and were very impressed with the service they provided. We were part of a larger group with slightly different plans but were able to intersect. Norsang and his brother met with us to provide an extensive overview of the trek. Norsang was also able to spend the day with us in Kathmandu and was an excellent tour guide. Everything was laid out clearly including price, itinerary, inclusions and exclusions and the different options available to us with the time we had. They were very flexible with our dates and constructing an itinerary that would suit our schedule. Sanjay, his brother, was our guide up until the point that we met up with our friends in Tengboche to attend a festival. When the rest of our group was unable to proceed to base camp, Sanjay led us up to the goal. He was absolutely amazing! He was engaging, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. I feel like we all became great friends! He was flexible with the difficulty levels; some days we would be setting a great pace and others we were slower and it was no issue. Sanjay, Norsang and their family which really topped off an amazing adventure, I have no hesitation in recommending High Camp trekking for your adventure in Nepal. Without a doubt, we are already planning our return for another adventure. I can't say enough good things about this team of people.

We did complete the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) with High Camp Trekking in October 2014 and were very impressed with the service they provided. We initially got in touch with Norsang via email and everything was laid out clearly including price, itinerary, inclusions and exclusions and the different options available to us with the time we had. He was very flexible with dates and constructing an itinerary that would suit our schedule. We had initially booked for Everest Base camp -but we only had limited days and knew that if we couldn't fly in on day 1 or 2 that it wouldn't be possible to complete it in the time we had available. Unfortunately we had bad weather and couldn't fly into Lukla- so last minute the itinerary was changed to go to ABC- with no hassle at all. We completed the trek with his brother Sanjay- who was absolutely amazing! Nothing was too much trouble and he was very easy to get along with. Some days we would be setting a great pace and others we were slower and it was no issue. Even with the last minute change of plans he was able to get us accommodation every night including up at Base Camp- despite it being a very busy time of year. Our porter- Wongju was also lovely. He enjoyed a game of Uno at night with us and was always a friendly face. After our trip we were lucky enough to have a home cooked meal with Sanjay, Norsang and their family which really topped off an amazing adventure, I have no hesitation in recommending High Camp trekking for your adventure in Nepal and would be happy to answer any questions people may have regarding the company. Thanks again! Hope to see you on another adventure soon!

It was our 2nd trekking experience with High Camp Trekking Company and Norsang was our trekking guide for both treks. We went on Poon Hill Trek in May 2013 and returned one year later (May 2014) for EBC. During our first enquiry on Poon Hill trek, High Camp Trekking was the first trekking company to respond and the replies were all very prompt and informative. Norsang has been a wonderful guide for both treks. He can answer all questions, from mountains, to birds, flowers, and many more. He is very patient and helpful to bring us around to get our trekking equipment and ensure we have the necessary and proper equipment. During our EBC trek, he will ask how we were feeling, to identify if we were suffering altitude illness. He even take note the day we started on Diamox and inform us when to stop. He ensures that we have sufficient rest and food and water intake. Both trips could not be any safer and enjoyable without Norsang. We highly recommend High Camp Trekking Company. We will definitely trek with High Camp if we return for our 3rd trip!

We decided to go trekking with Norsang after trawling online forums for recommendations. We chose the Annapurna Circuit for a 16 day trek in February 2014. After contacting a number of possible independent guides and companies, Norsang provided the most comprehensive and detailed response with a background of our kit requirements, route to be taken what was or was not included and transport details. We requested some small changes to our itinerary (walking a section instead of taking a bus). Norsang was quite flexible and proposed an alternate plan that did what we wanted. Along the way we both found Norsang to be a very good guide with plenty of experience and a good head for making decisions on the trail but also a good host and a wealth of information about the local environment, culture, history, religion, politics and Nepal in general. He is also a great guy to get on with and speaks good English. Norsang was a great guide and the way the trek was structured with included food and accommodation made our lives a lot easier and more straightforward when things got a little tougher. During our trek we had many comments (compliments) from others with and without guides that we had been lucky with our choice of guide and after 2 weeks on the road in various conditions I have to agree!

Highest praise for High Camp Trekking Company of Nepal! In September of 2013, we had the pleasure to trek with High Camp Trekking in the Langtang region. Our trek was amazing due to the preparation, skill and personality of Norsang, owner and guide and his Uncle Shyam who acted as our porter. Beginning with the first e-mail inquiry we believed that we would be in good hands with Norsang, but I could not imagine the care, thoughtfulness, and how welcome we were made to feel. Prior to the trek, Norsang met with us in our hotel to review our trek, assess our gear, and answer any and all questions which we might have. During the trek Norsang was attentive to our pace, patient with our needs to view the flora and fauna, aware of our water intake at all times (which proved to be invaluable when at higher altitudes), and thoughtful when selecting guest houses. On a trek, you spend a great amount of time with your guide. Norsang was well aware of our need for quite time while hiking, private time in the guest houses and during meals. That being said, he was a wonderful conversationalist. He was a great contributor of cultural information as he has good English skills and an interest in our questions. At the end of the trek, Norsang continued to be helpful offering other travel tips and some suggestions as we were co continuing on with our travels. He was clearly interested in seeing that we both had a positive trekking adventure. Again, highest praise for Norsang and Shyam. We are already looking into another trek with High Camp Trekking.

My boyfriend and I also use this guide whilst we were out in Nepal – we were recommended by a friend who used him when she did Everest Base Camp. We decided to do the Annapurna Circuit plus Base Camp.
We met with Norsang in Thamel when we arrived in Nepal and we told him what we wanted to do and how much time we had etc. He told us about a few trips that were possible and we eventually came up with this one.
It was the most amazing trip and wouldn’t have been the same without him and Ngema our porter (Norsang’s nephew).
We spent 20 days trekking in November 2011 and Norsang was able to answer all of our questions from the birds to the trees to the mountains and religion. It was a very cultural trek with so much history.
Some people say that it is possible to do the trek without a guide, which may be true but you miss so much when you are on your own and we learnt such a lot from Norsang which meant that we understood so much more of Nepal when we visited different areas.
We paid all of our money to him up front, which we were dubious about at the start as we didn’t know him but I wouldn’t say that this was a problem at all. He made sure we were happy and safe and had full bellies at all times and made sure that we knew everything about altitude sickness which we didn’t get in the end thanks to his slower pace higher up and acclimatization walks. We also took Diamox, under his recommendation and we were both fine and onely suffered a bit of tingling in our face (a side effect of the drug)!
I would recommend Norsang to ANYONE that was thinking about going Trekking in Nepal, I would love to go back and visit him and do another trek with him when I have the time! There are so mny guides out there that claim to do everything that he does but I wouldn’t choose anyone without a recommendation because you hear so many stories about dodgy guides and it would be so sad to lose your money and have a bad experience.
Feel free to Email me if you have any questions and enjoy your trek!
