Lobuche Peak Climbing is an ideal addition to treks to Everest Base Camp or the Three High Passes in the Everest region. Standing above Lobuche Village next to the Khumbu Glacier. It is a good choice for mountaineers seeking a warm-up climb before their Everest expeditions. Start planning your adventure today and take the first step toward your climb.

We typically ascend Lobuche Peak via the standard Southwest Face route to an elevation of 6,119 meters. From High Camp, we cross rocky terrain, snow, and ice using crampons for traction. Our guide sets safety lines to ensure security throughout the climb. At the summit, climbers enjoy exceptional views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and Cholatse Peak. Contact us to plan your climb.

You can see both Lobuche East (6,119 meters) and Lobuche West (6,135 meters) from the trekking trail. Most climbers reach Lobuche West via a steep ridge connecting it to East Peak. The permit costs $350 from March to May and $175 for the rest of the year, making it a lower-cost option outside peak season.

Lobuche Peak Climbing in December can be attractive due to reduced permit fees and fewer crowds. We arrange Lobuche Peak climbing permits, manage Base Camp and High Camp logistics, and provide an experienced mountaineering guide for fixed-line and alpine-style ascents. Climbing gear rentals are available.

Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa were the first to reach the summit of Lobuche Peak on April 25, 1984.

The trip begins with a flight from Kathmandu or Ramechhap Airport to Lukla, setting the scene for an unforgettable trek. From there, the route passes through Sherpa villages where travellers can explore Buddhist monasteries and see Mani-Mantra carvings on boulders. Along the way, you may spot wildlife such as pheasants, Himalayan thars (wild goats), and musk deer. Begin the journey and discover the route for yourself.

Day to day itinerary:

We explain each day's program and packing list for trekking and climbing Lobuche Peak. Today, we obtained a Lobuche Peak climbing permit in Kathmandu. In the afternoon, we take you on a tour of the world heritage site Kathmandu Hanuman Dhoka.

Lukla, we go downhill through the Rhododendron forest and pass Ghat village with its mani mantra walls and monastery to reach Phakding, where we have lunch. Then, we follow Dhudha Khosi Green Valley and pass by Banker Village to get to Manju, where we spend a night. En route, we see Kusum Khang and Thamserku peaks.

All includes: A variety of meals, from breakfast to dinner, with tea/coffee, to keep your taste buds excited throughout the journey.
Rhododendron forest and cross the bridge to reach Jhorsale village. We prepare plenty of water for the next steep uphill to reach Namche through the high bridge and pine forests. We could see wild goats (Himalayan Thar), birds, and obviously, the first glimpse of Mt. Everest en route to Namche Bazaar.

After breakfast, we will tour Everest View Hotel, Khumjung, and Khunde village for a day. We will visit the school and monastery in Khumjung village to see the Yeti skull. This is also a scenic and cultural tour. After visiting Khunde village, we will descend to Namche. We will spend a second night in Namche for safe acclimatization.

We leave Namche after breakfast. Today, we are heading to Phortse village via Mong La. The path to Kyangjungma is easy through Tenzin Norgay Memorial Stupa, which has fabulous views of Khumbu Valley, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. There is an uphill walk to Mong La from Kyanjungma. We could see Yaks, Naks, Chauri, and wild mountain goats (Himalayan Thar) en route. We take a cup of tea at Mong, which has stunning views of Mt. Ama Dablam. Then, we catch a steep downhill to Phortse Thanga through Rhododendrons and pine forest. After crossing the bridge, there comes uphill to reach Phortse village. It is a less crowded village where we can see Pheasants (the national birds of Nepal), musk deer, and Himalayan Thar (wild goats).

Leaving Phortse village, we catch a less crowded trail to reach Upper Pangboche village, which has the best views of Mt. Ama Dablam. There is a monastery that is the oldest in the Khumbu Valley. We visit the monastery that also has a Yeti skull. Now, we join on the busy trail of the Everest Base Camp to reach Somare, where we take a lunch break for an hour. Next, we catch a gradual uphill trail to Pheriche, where we spend two nights for safe acclimatization.

After breakfast, we hike up to Nangkar Tshang Peak (5000m), which has stunning views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu, Island Peak, Tabuche, Khangtenga, and Thamserku, and back to Dingboche for lunch. Take a rest or hang out in the village in the afternoon.

We ascend the valley to reach Thukla where we pause for a cup of tea. From Thukla, we embark on a challenging climb to reach Thukla Pass, a site adorned with a line of memorials to the legendary mountaineers who lost their lives on Mt. Everest. This poignant yet beautiful location is a must-see for trekkers, offering a unique blend of stunning scenery and a tribute to the brave Mountaineers. We then continue our journey to Lobuche, a gradual uphill trek that allows us to acclimatize and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of the peaks at the end of Khumbu Valley, bordering Tibet. In the afternoon, we visit the Italian pyramid.

Get ready for a day of breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences! We are leaving Lobuche early in the morning to head to Everest Base Camp and return to Gorak Shep today. The journey starts with a flat walk on grassy land for an hour, followed by a short steep climb to Lobuche pass. We then follow the Khumbu glacier northward to Gorak Shep, where we drop our luggage at the room. After a quick lunch, we prepare a day bag to hike up to Everest Base Camp through a rocky trail along the side of the Khumbu glacier. We touch the famous Khumbu icefalls and glaciers at EBC (5364m) where we spend an hour, surrounded by the beauty of the Himalayas. Then, we return to Gorak Shep for a night's stay, filled with the excitement of the day's adventures.

We climb steeply uphill to Kala Pattar, 5545m, which offers 360-degree views of the Everest panorama, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Puma Ri, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Taboche Peak, Khumbu Icefalls, Khumbu glaciers, and Everest Base Camp. This is a bit tough but even more scenic than Everest Base Camp yesterday. We return to Gorak Shep for breakfast and pack the bag. Then, we retrace our footsteps back to Lobuche.

From here, we walk for an hour on the grassy, flatter path. Then, the path to the High Camp gets steeper and rocky. After reaching the High Camp, we do the necessary preparation for the summit the following morning. The guide, a crucial part of our team, gives a class about climbing techniques, going up and down using fixed ropes.

It is an extra day to manage any uncertain circumstances, such as acclimatization, flight delays, or bad weather, for the summit push.

We climb through a rocky moraine from the High Camp to reach a crampoon point. The route consists of moderate snow/ice climbing in crampons protected by fixed lines. We see the best scenery through the
climbing route and the summit, including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, Cholatse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. It takes 3 to 4 hours to reach the summit. After celebrating the summit's success, we descend using fixed lines and an abseiling device (figure 8) to return to High Camp. After lunch, we continued to descend to the Pheriche for the night at the lodge.

Leaving Pheriche, we cross a small bridge and briefly climb before descending to Pangboche through an alpine meadow landscape and attractive views of Ama Dablam. We continue to descend to the bridge over the rushing Imja River. Then, we walk through the Rhododendron trees to Debuche and climb up to Tengboche on the ridge. We visit the famous monastery before lunch. Again, we descend to the bridge over the Dudha Kosi River at Phunki Tenga before the uphill walk to Namche.

Today, we end our walk at Lukla. Leaving Namche, the police check hiking passes at the end of the village. From here, we descend to the Top Danda, where we have the last chance to see Mt. Everest and continue downhill to the high bridge and Jhorsale. We have a short, steep uphill to Manju, Sagarmatha National Park office, where our hiking passes exit. From here, we continue walking along the Dhudha Kosi valley to reach Pakhading, where we eat lunch. Then, we headed to Lukla, where we spent a night at the end of the trip.

In the morning, we will take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu and check into our hotel. In the afternoon, we will have free time in Kathmandu.

Please read the cost carefully, including and not including the above. All meals, including tea and coffee, are included during the trek. We do not involve drinking or boiling water, which can be purchased at the teahouse for $1 to $3 per litre. You can take water-purifying tablets or Seripen for a cheaper solution. Wi-Fi, battery charges, and hot showers are omitted. Wi-Fi costs $20 for 10GB and $30 for 20GB, unlimited per card. Battery charging costs $1 to $10 per hour per device (a power bank can be a cheaper solution). The gas shower costs US$3-7 per head.

If the Lukla flight is cancelled due to weather conditions, you are responsible for any additional hotel nights and meals in Kathmandu and Lukla for the extra days. No extra payment is required to reschedule the Lukla flight due to weather cancellations. But there may be less priority for flight-cancelled passengers the following day. In the event of unexpected circumstances, such as weather-related flight cancellations, we offer an alternative trip.

    • Personal climbing gears: Climbing helmet, harness, prussik rope, tape slling, ice axe, Jumar (Ascending device), ACT guide (belay device), climbing boot, crampons and lock carabiners.
    • A few interesting books and a pack of cards.
    • Plastic bag for waste and toiltet papers.
    • A padlock.
    • A day bag (25 to 35L) or rucksack large enough (65 to 75L) size.

    Note: We have down jackets and sleeping bag rental facilities for our clients. The rental fee is US$1.50 per sleeping bag and down jacket per day.
